WEP

Wired Equivalent Privacy

protocolsmedium

WEP was the original encryption scheme in the 802.11 Wi-Fi standard, intended to make wireless as private as a wired network. Flaws in its use of the RC4 cipher mean attackers can recover keys in minutes with free tools. It has been considered broken since the early 2000s and should never be used.
