DDoS

A Distributed Denial of Service attack floods a website or service with traffic from many compromised machines at once. The goal is to exhaust bandwidth, servers, or applications so legitimate users cannot get through. DDoS attacks are cheap to launch and can knock critical services offline, which is why organizations invest in traffic filtering and mitigation services.
