BGP

BGP is the routing protocol that networks across the internet use to tell each other which IP address blocks they can reach. It runs between internet service providers and large organizations at the edge of their networks. Because it was built on trust, BGP hijacks can redirect huge amounts of traffic, which is why protections like RPKI matter.
