Simple Certificate Enrollment Protocol
SCEP automates requesting and issuing X.509 certificates from a certificate authority. It is widely used by mobile device management platforms to push certificates to phones, laptops, and network gear at scale. Originally a Cisco effort, it was eventually published as an informational RFC despite known limitations.
