PQC

Post-Quantum Cryptography

cryptomedium

PQC covers cryptographic algorithms designed to resist attacks by large quantum computers, which would break RSA and elliptic curve crypto via Shor's algorithm. NIST ran a multi-year competition and standardized the first algorithms, including ML-KEM and ML-DSA, in 2024. Migration matters now because adversaries can record encrypted traffic today and decrypt it once quantum computers arrive.
