PLC

Programmable Logic Controller

networkmedium

A PLC is a ruggedized industrial computer that directly controls machinery, reading sensors and switching valves, motors, and relays according to its programmed logic. PLCs sit at the lowest level of industrial networks, closest to the physical process. Stuxnet famously sabotaged centrifuges by tampering with PLC code, proving that hacking these devices has physical consequences.
